Retreat Chef Training: May 25th – June 1st 2019, Portugal, 4 SPACES LEFT
Do you want to travel the world and work in gorgeous places immersed in nature?
Do you already work in retreats or own a retreat centre and would like to be known for offering extraordinary, unforgettable food?
Would you like the opportunity to connect with a diverse range of people you would otherwise never have the chance to meet?
If you love to cook and love to travel, feel passionate about health and would like to work in a holistic environment with like minded people…then this could be just the job for you!
Cooking for a retreat is quite unlike any other catering job. We often get asked ‘how is it so different from being a private chef?’
On retreat, the people you are cooking for are not just on holiday. Whether the retreat is a relaxing yoga holiday, a health & fitness bootcamp or a full immersion into the practices, simply being in the retreat environment can have profound effects.
The food you create provides the nourishing support for this process.
The chef and the food play a vital role on any retreat and it is an important area to get right. The job of a retreat chef can be an exciting career choice and incredibly rewarding.
You get to travel the globe and experience the world in ways that being simply a tourist can never offer. You get to stay in some jaw dropping places and meet people you would never come across in daily life or in a job fixed to one location.
There are opportunities to work with local people across many different cultures and interact with local suppliers and producers. Plus you are blessed with the task of feeding and nourishing a group of people taking precious time out from their daily lives and routines.
This course offers the opportunity to learn from people with over 10 years experience in facilitating and catering for retreats.
We know what works when it comes to retreat food and how to make it an unforgettable experience for all.

A full nourishing experience on so many levels. The teachers have an amazing amount of knowledge, shared generously and professionally, with warmth and ease. Anyone with an interest in food and retreats would benefit from attending this training.Carol Möllebo
So much information and value was packed into the week and everything that unfolded was a wonderful surprise. The course was set a good pace, allowing one to experience what it is like to be on a retreat, whilst at the same time being in a concentrated learning environment. I now feel confident to create and design menu’s for clients and to get going. I felt totally inspired by the food and yoga classes and I will definitely be coming to this course again. The energy, vibrancy, generosity and inspiration is more-ish!Clare Ryan
Just perfect – exceeded all my expectations. Huge thank you to Hayley, Jo and Kate for all your wisdom, inspiration and hard work during the week. I am so proud to be a Holistic Kitchen Academy graduate!Lucy Wils
This a retreat like no other. Hayley & Jo are trailblazers and pioneers. They take you on a journey that is so subtle and profound, their specialist knowledge and love of food is evident in all that they wholeheartedly share. Every aspect is covered from ingredient sourcing, menu planning and the organisational aspects of the retreat chef business. They are leading the way in what is known as ‘ethical business’ and they continue to support their trainees after the course through the retreat chef network that they created. Their ethos is heartwarming. The inclusion of their personal practices in yoga, qi gong and meditation combine to give participants a full holistic experience. Holistic kitchen Academy, you rock!Cathy Richardson
