Nourishing Families Summer Camp

August 24th – 28th 2020, Cornwall

Join us this summer at a stunning rural location to enjoy precious timeout with the family – from the day to day grind and routine, phones, tv’s, computers and gadgets.

Family retreats are a great way for parents to spend quality time with their children in nature, where family bonds are strengthened.

With activities, games, classes and workshops, fireside stories, garden tours and foraging included; this family summer camp explores three core interwoven themes – play, nature and connection.

We will embody playfulness in all that we do – on the yoga mat, in the kitchen, harvesting our food in the veg gardens, being on the land, through games, craft and various activities.

Through direct association with nature, young people can become more self-disciplined, self-confident, creative and cooperative. They interact with others, help one another, share their learning and solve problems together.

Overall this is retreat provides the opportunity for connection – to ourselves, each other, the food we eat and the natural world.

Activities during the week include:

  • Cooking classes – adult, child and family sessions
  • Yoga – adult and child sessions
  • Meditation and mindfulness
  • Veg garden tours and harvesting
  • Fruit picking in the orchard
  • Foraging in the woods
  • Arts & crafts
  • Woodwork & carpentry
  • Firemaking
  • Storytelling

Camp Leaders
Hayley North & Rosie Blunden will be hosting and teaching this retreat, with support from the HKA team.

Hayley & Rosie have over 15 years experience of creating, organising, hosting, catering and teaching retreats together and individually for various clients worldwide.

Over the past 5 years, Rosie has also been taking time out to be a full time mum to two girls and developing her Brighton based Nourishing Families business. Hayley has been co creating The Holistic Kitchen Academy, working with young people in residential care and generally within retreats. Hayley has also had the privilege to host and teach a number of private family retreats, which she found to be incredibly rewarding and a joy to witness.

Family wellbeing, food education for families and young people and rewilding in nature are all areas of passion and interest for Hayley and Rosie. They are extremely excited to be bringing this together in the form of a family summer camp for The Holistic Kitchen Academy.
