The Retreat Chef’s Retreat – Going Deeper: 2 Spaces Left!

An extension to our popular Retreat Chef Training programmes, this course is open to anyone currently working as a retreat chef, venue owner, teacher, or course leader of wellbeing events.

During this week, we go far beyond the kitchen skills and recipes that impress our clients to explore the nourishing role played by chefs and retreat hosts in the spirit of service. 

We move deeper into unpicking and understanding the unique and complex experience of working within retreat settings and uncover the simplicity in creating menus that underpin and enhance each retreat’s unique purpose and aims

We will explore nourishment in two essential ways:

Giving – the energetic influence you have on the food you create and share with others.

Discover how to create food that unites everyone involved in a retreat. Learn to be guided from within, trust your inner reference system, find clarity and inspiration.

Receiving – the practices that leave you energised and present to your higher self.

Explore how to prioritise the practices that connect you to your perfect place to truly offer service. Find time to strengthen the self, through simple, mindful sadhana.

The course includes:

  • Plant Based Holistic Cookery Classes
  • Advanced Fermentation
  • Daily Yoga, Meditation, Qi Gong or Movement – on the mat and in the kitchen (including 1x yoga workshop with guest teacher Liz Warrington)
  • Food Sadhana – evoking ancient wisdom around food preparation
  • Talks/Q&A – looking deeper into the traditions of Ayurveda & Chinese Five Element Theory, with menu planning
  • 1 x Massage & 1 x Cranial Sacral treatment per person
  • Shopping/Market Excursion – ethical & seasonal sourcing
  • Beach time/Seaside Walks
  • All accommodation, airport transfers, food, drinks, snacks and tuition

Venue & Accommodation:
Our retreat takes place at The Eagle’s Nest in the village of Isla Plana, close to Puerto de Mazarron in Murcia, Spain. Originally two apartments, the space has been significantly modified to create a beautiful retreat.

Outside terraces provide areas for yoga and al fresco dining. There is an indoor classroom for cooler weather and the kitchen is spacious, designed to be able to cater for up to 30 people. A walled garden provides herbs and edible flowers throughout the year.

The high situation affords stunning views to sea and sunset is often a supper time feature.

There are 4 twin shared bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. Please be aware that this is an intimate setting, ideal for this retreat, and we can only offer shared accommodation. We will always pair with same sex.

Flights:
The nearest airport to the venue is
Corvera (RMU). The included transfer will be preferably be from and to this airport. Alternatively, Alicante is the second option.

 

Course Leaders
The week will be guided by Hayley North, Jo Tytherleigh and Kate Allen, co-teachers on the Retreat Chef Training courses.

We have all pursued individual paths in the food industry, each with our own particular areas of interest. Ranging from growing – using permaculture and organic methods, to running cafes and pop up supper clubs, recipe development for books, spa resorts and hotels, catering for large events and retreats, working with children and teenagers, to working in refugee camp kitchens.

From this wealth of experience, we continue to turn our attention toward holistic food education. We are in a unique position in this arena, being long-term practitioners of yoga, meditation and connected disciplines. Our embodiment of these practices gives us a holistic approach in all that we share.

It is our sincere belief that a ‘teacher’s’ purpose is to guide the student toward a place of self-trust that brings empowerment.

Deposit & Terms:

A deposit of £250 is required to secure a place on the course. The deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable.

The final balance is due 60 days before the retreat start date.

The remaining balance can only be returned in the advent of cancellation if the participant is able to find a replacement.

*80% Fees will be returned (minus an administration fee) if cancellation is made 30 days before the beginning of the retreat.

50% Fees will be returned if cancellation is made less than 30 days before the beginning of the retreat.
