Six Steps To A Kinder Kitchen

Live course cancelled. Now being recreated for online study, details coming soon!

This retreat style course is created to inspire and equip you with the skills to transform your world, with gentle practices in the kitchen and in your household management.

Are you feeling called to make choices that deeply nourish and care for you and your family, while also stepping more lightly on our earth?

If you feel concern for how we shop, how we cook, how we clean and how we care for our bodies; then this course gives you sure steps towards achieving just that.

It is our sincere belief that every choice counts – that through the decisions we make every day we are voting for the kind of society we want to live in and future we wish to be part of.

During this week the programme of workshops, practical sessions, and study sessions – as well as time to relax and revitalise – will help support you through the changes you need to make to lower your impact.

We will explore kinder choices in:

the marketplace: seeking local and seasonal produce, nutrition and provenance

making better relationships with local producers whose methods and approach are allied to your own

the kitchen: boosting nutrients, bioavailability and flavour

creating meals that nourish you mind, body and soul

the home: cleaning, equipment and maintaining a gentle household

blending cleaning products kinder to you and to our environment

the self: body care, meditation and yoga

embracing personal practice that sustains and uplift each and every day

HKA Course Leaders
Your retreat will be guided by Hayley North and Kate Allen.

Both Hayley and Kate have cooked and cheffed in a huge diversity of settings – from cafe’s/restaurants, pop-up eateries and hotels, to writing and developing cook books, teaching, back to employment schemes, large scale events, retreats and serving food in refugee camps. We take our ethics of treading gently into everything we do.

Most importantly, we both walk our own personal evolving transformative journeys with food and health, underpinned by our long term practices in yoga, movement and meditation.

We share tools, knowledge, practical skills and insights that are useful in everyday life. The teaching style is to guide and support, rather than to preach or claim that we have all the answers.

What we have in abundance is a wealth of experience and passion: for holistic food education, and for life itself. What brings us perfectly together as a team is our message of food as pivotal to our mental and spiritual – as well as physical – health.

Hayley’s food is delicious, satisfying, varied and looks beautiful. Wholesome food can be a bit dull, but this is the opposite – exotic, scrumptious and mouth-watering.  It is wonderfully fresh with nothing processed or remotely unhealthy.

Retreat Manager UK

Working with Hayley 1-2-1, she took into account all my personal circumstances to help devise something that would work for me. Through ongoing sessions she supported me to take it at my own pace, making changes gradually. I love how Hayley is a true holistic chef, taking many factors into account and supporting others to find what works for them. Her compassionate approach makes the process such a joy

The workshop was fun, friendly and really interesting – definitely worth it. Amongst other wonders, learning to make tofu with Kate, from scratch, is amazing – and the result is fantastic – honestly far better to store bought. Thank you.

I had a great day on the fermenting workshop a couple of weeks ago. Kate recommended that I attend after me asking her about fermented foods.Since then I’ve introduced various ferments (especially kimchi) into my diet and two weeks down the line I’m no longer getting gastric pain and am off my meds for it!”

Can’t wait to attend future workshops!
